The Banking and Financial Services Alliance’s purpose is to serve as a forum for convening thought leaders to develop, maintain and disseminate innovative approaches to preventing and resolving disputes in the banking and financial services industry. In the past this Alliance has sponsored presentations on Bi-lateral Investment Treaties, the “mediation window,” the Economical Litigation Agreement, ADR in bankruptcy cases, as well as on the subprime market and the role of ADR in private party litigation involving hedge funds. At the request of the Alliance, CPR has developed a Panel of Distinguished Neutrals specialized in resolving complex disputes arising between and among financial services institutions, including banking and accounting firms. Included on this Panel are attorneys with extensive financial background and expertise in resolving disputes which arise in the context of accounting, mergers & acquisitions, hedge funds and other types of corporate deals. The Committee will continue to identify potential neutrals for this specialty panel who are versed in this industry to prevent, mediate and resolve the kinds of disputes examined by the Committee. Together with the Arbitration Committee, this Alliance sponsors an Investment Disputes Sub-Committee.
