Professional Bio

Craig is President and Chief Administrative Officer of Cruise, where he was appointed in November of 2023. Majority owned by General Motors since 2016, Cruise combines a culture of innovative technology and safety with a history of manufacturing and automotive excellence. At Cruise, Craig has infused GM’s commitment to safety. He is focused on continually and consistently strengthening the Cruise safety culture through elevated standards, transparent communication, and deep partnership with the communities we serve.

Additionally, Craig serves as the Executive Vice President and Strategic Advisor of General Motors (GM). Craig joined GM in March 2015 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. While in that role, he led a transformation of GM’s global legal operations to support the company’s vision of a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. In 2021, Craig was named Executive Vice President of Global Public Policy and assumed the responsibilities of Corporate Secretary. He also began leading Cybersecurity and Strategic Technology Initiatives in 2022. As of July 2024, Craig transitioned out of his role as General Counsel of General Motors, and assumed the role of Executive Vice President and Strategic Advisor.

Prior to joining GM, Craig served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals, and refining companies. He also previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., a position he held after leaving private law practice.

Craig received a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 1980, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He obtained a Juris Doctor with high honors from Florida State University in 1983, where he served as editor-in-chief and managing editor of the Florida State University Law Review.

From March 2022-March 2024, Craig served as Chair of the CPR Institute.
