Professional Bio

Nancy Dowling leads the North American legal and public affairs functions of a Paris-based publicly traded food sector multinational with annual revenues of $25 billion. As part of her daily legal advice to the C-suite, Nancy oversees a busy docket of high-stakes class actions, arbitrations, and international business disputes. Nancy is General Counsel and Vice President, Public and Scientific Affairs at Danone North America. Before re-joining the North American business in 2021, Nancy served in various global roles for Danone including as General Counsel Specialized Nutrition based in Amsterdam, NL, where she sat on the Specialized Nutrition Board and advised on legal and compliance issues related to the global breast milk substitutes, early diet and advanced medical nutrition businesses. Subsequently, she was appointed Global General Counsel of Essential Dairy and Plant Based Products (EDP) with a team based in Paris, advising the EDP Board on legal and compliance issues related to the global dairy and plant-based businesses.

Nancy joined Danone in 2006 as Senior Counsel for The Dannon Company, Inc. in White Plains, New York becoming General Counsel of Dannon, U.S. in 2011. Before starting at Danone, Nancy served as senior counsel at Sears Roebuck and Company and chief intellectual property officer at World Kitchen in Chicago. Previously, Nancy was Senior Counsel at the Procter & Gamble Company supporting the business in a variety of roles and prior to that was a litigator at Keck, Mahin and Cate in Chicago, Illinois. Nancy currently sits on the Board of Danone’s North America business, Danone’s Global Legal and Compliance Board and is on the Board of the Westchester County chapter of the American Heart Association.
