The Organizational Ombuds - What Corporate Counsel Might Want to Consider.
This event is organized by CPR's Employment Disputes Committee, and is open to the public.
Speakers:
• Chuck Howard, Organizational Ombuds Consultant
• Robyn Diaz, Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
• Chuck Doran, Outsourced Organizational Ombuds and Executive Director, MWI
An organizational ombuds serves as an independent, impartial, informal, and confidential resource for members of an organization (employees, faculty, students – known as “visitors”) to help raise and resolve concerns while providing anonymized feedback to leadership. Thousands of companies, universities, and other organizations have benefited from this unique resource that falls outside of standard reporting structures and is, by way of an ombuds charter, independent of formal channels such as HR, legal, and compliance.
This presentation is designed to help corporate counsel and other participants better understand how an organizational ombuds functions, why an organization might want an ombuds resource, factors to evaluate when considering an ombuds resource, different ombuds models, the dos and don’ts of setting up and maintaining an IOA (International Ombuds Association) compliant program, and more.
