1. What do you find to be a beneficial aspect of CPR? 

The constant continuous ADR knowledge improvement programs and the networking. 

2. What inspired you to steer your career toward ADR, and what steps did you take to make it to where you are today? 

I was inspired by a former senior colleague who I worked with closely. Mrs. Adedoyin Rhodes-Vivour (SAN)has been practicing ADR mechanisms for over twenty-years. She introduced me to the different mechanisms/processes which aroused my interest in ADR mechanisms.  I noticed the numerous advantages over litigation with mediation and arbitration, which includes sometimes reduction in legal cost, fast track proceedings, amicable settlements etc.

Steps taking include taking numerous trainings in mediation and arbitration. Constant participation in ADR organization’s events and shadowing veteran ADR practitioners in multiple ADR proceedings -mediation and arbitration. Furthermore, actively seeking to act as arbitral registrar / secretary. 

3. What is one piece of advice you would give to somebody who wanted to pursue a career in ADR? 

Work hard and make sure you pursue continuous trainings/study in the field of ADR till you retire. 

4. What personal characteristics are most beneficial to you in your career? 

Persistence, hard work and continuous seeking to increase knowledge in the field of ADR.

5. How can people with an interest in ADR get hands-on experience to further their career? 

They need to approach veteran ADR professionals relentlessly to request to  either shadow their ADR proceedings or act as registrar/arbitral secretary. 

6. What is your favorite ADR process to practice?

Arbitration

Spending time with the family.
